Mafalda

Her love for and gratitude towards this place were passed down to her by her aunts, who entrusted their prayers to the capuzzelle.

Mafalda

Mafalda, 34, is a young woman with an old soul.

Her bond with the Cemetery is an inherited love. Once there was war, bombs falling, and the city collapsing. There were two little girls and their mother who, amid the ruins, had not lost the strength to hope.

So, one day, before reaching the springs of the Fontanelle where they used to fetch water, they entered the Cemetery and adopted a capuzzella. They entrusted to it what remained of their lives and prayed for the war to end.

A place of memory

Every time she hears this story, Mafalda is still moved. As though it belonged to her as well. She wishes that her aunts, those two little girls at the time, might finally return to the Cemetery, find that soul again and say once more: thank you.
